Heinz Schernikau established HMS in 1995 and from the beginning shaped the company with his professionalism and his charisma. He has been in the international coal trade since 1973, more than 35 years.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES AND EDUCATION
- 2005 – current: Advisor to the Board of leading coal producers in Asia and Europe
- 1995 – current: founder and CEO of HMS Bergbau Agentur AG in Berlin
- 1990 – 1995: Board of Directors at Stinnes Intercoal AG
- from 1985: Vice-Chairman of AHB Kohle-Energie Export Import and in charge of all coal, gas and energy trading from and to East-Germany (Volume: 4 billion marks)
- 1973 – 1989: various leadership positions with foreign trade companies in East Germany
Education:
- 1991: Advanced Management Program INSEAD, France
- 1973: Masters Degree (Dipl. oec.) in Business Economics and Foreign Trade from the former University of Economics in East Berlin
Throughout his career Mr. Schernikau has established extensive international contacts and has led and been involved in midsize and large raw material trade deals. He has worked with partners across the globe with a focus on Eastern Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
