Glück auf!
Today, HMS Bergbau AG markets a wide range of energy commodities, ores, cement and other products, which are used in the steel industry, for example. As a company, our origins lie in the trading of coal products. The mining and extraction of black gold has always been characterized as very demanding and risky work. The "Steigerlied"
The Steigerlied, which passed into German folklore, expresses the miners’ hope of returning safely to their families after a hard and dangerous day’s work in the mine.
“Glück Auf!” is a miner’s greeting that expresses hope for a healthy return from the mine after a shift. Other interpretations suggest that the refrain “Glück auf!” calls for good fortune, so that the mountain opens up and allows coal or ores to be mined.
